Highlights of the Elucidation and Its Benefits
The vision of the Mishneh Torah Project is, that every one will have the opportunity to know the entire Oral Law, in the most comprehensive, concise and orderly manner as brought by Maimonides’ book The Mishne Torah.
Alongside making the Masterpiece Edition of the Mishne Torah’s nusach splendid, the workers at the Mishne Torah Project worked on publishing an elucidated edition of the Mishne Torah, accompanied by a simple explanation suitable for everyone, which folds into it Maimonides’ special perceptions in all his books, simply, shortly, clearly and true to the source.
Prefaces
Each book includes an introduction that describes the book’s topic, the order in which the laws are divided, the central thought which appears throughout the book and the idea which seals it.
The Structure of the Chapters
Every chapter has a short title and sub-title which describe the topic of the chapter or halacha and help finding where you left off and remembering what you learned. A table of topics is found in the preface of each group of halachas which gives a general picture of the halachas in a single glance.
Bible Verses
In the preface of every group of chapters we collected the main bible verses with titles and short elucidations in order to connect the written Torah to the oral Torah which the Mishne Torah is a summary of.
The Elucidation
The short elucidation, aimed to simplify matters, attempting to explain Maimonides according to himself throughout his teachings (Maimonides according to Maimonides) in the “Mishneh Torah,” in “Pirush HaMishna” in “The Guide for the Perplexed,” in “Milot HaHigaion” in Maimonides answers and in medical and documents, as brought up by the writings of scholars of Israel who follow this way in understanding Maimonides, and recently an edition by Rabbi Yosef Kappach TZL and in the “Yad Peshuta” commentary by NE Rabinovitch Shlita, and also in the works of Maimonides descendants and those who follow his way throughout the ages. This elucidation includes:
